Recycled Solid Surface – One man’s rubbish…

The cost of raw materials have increased exponentially over the last 2 years as the impacts of COVID and BREXIT continue cause major disruptions to the supply chain and rising fuel prices impact shipping.

With the cost of some solid surface going up nearly 30% over the last 18 months, there has never been a better time to look at ‘alternative’ ways of sourcing material and as companies look at ways of meeting customers ‘net zero’ expectations. Turning to a tech solution has helped one such local company, Premium Solid Surfaces, achieve solutions to both problems by utilising recycled solid surface.

By searching they first of all found some damaged stock that was commercially ‘unviable’ for manufacturing worktops to the supplying company as their costs of repair outweighed the costs of sale and thus their ability to make sufficient profit on the damaged stock. However, by utilising their advantage of lower production costs and more flexible customers, they were able to carry out the repairs needed, fabricate the work, which enabled them to leverage their advantage over the seller in this case and get a positive result.

As the adage goes, ones man’s rubbish turned out to be another’s treasure and as well as using material destined for the scrap heap, they produced a beautiful worktop out of effectively 100% recycled material which was good for the planet too!

Reduce, reuse, reutilize.
