A customer who has used Reutilize material in other applications contacted and asked if we have 6m2 of Limestone Prima Corian for a shower idea they wanted to try. We were only too happy to oblige. They had already looked at the site and seen there was sufficient in this colour so we quickly allocated the necessary material left over from recent jobs, and arranged delivery. With thousands of offcut material pieces available, it was quick and efficient to check!
Wall and floor tiles are something that other people have used Corian for in the past, but it is usually secondary to cladding where that seamless quality of Corian is utilised. However, with offcuts of material that don’t need to be batch matched, a beautiful use of the material was applied in creating a floor and shower wall in machined offcuts. Not only that, the cost benefits of Reutilize material makes it comparable to other high end tiling applications, but with all the benefits of solid surface.
Absolutely fantastic use of offcuts with super result.
*If more potential customers wanted to replicate this use, we would be able to machine material further into specific tiles.
By creating a use for this material and using the power of online searchable databases, Reutilize is able to put potential customers in front of available stock, which in turn generate business for that stock holder which is profitable and good for the environment. Customers can quickly search by colour, material, thickness and size.
We used 100% pre-consumer recycled material to achieve this job, made money and the customer was over the moon. Using ‘rubbish’ can work, if we combine it with technology to give it new value. See more examples here.
